Context
Two years after the 2011 visit, Kings of Leon returns to the Landgraaf field to close Saturday at Pinkpop. It is June 15, 2013. Come Around Sundown is still the latest album, while Mechanical Bull waits until September to open the Followills' next phase.
On the main stage at Megaland, the band crosses the early albums with the songs that expanded its scale. Caleb says little, but Use Somebody meets an entire field ready to sing. Sex on Fire extends that response. The night's contrast lies between the precise playing and the singer's reserved communication.
Don't Matter previews the sixth album without turning the performance into a launch. The rest of the season still takes the band to other European stages, and Mechanical Bull arrives in September. The footage is part of the festival's TV coverage and preserves that transition: the big choruses are already established, but the next album has not yet arrived.
- Don't Matter previews the sixth album, three months before its release.
