Context
On June 4, 2013, the Bud Walton Arena hosts an event outside the routine of a tour. Elton John plays Fayetteville during the week of Walmart's annual shareholders' meeting. Tickets were given away free, initially to employees, and Ed Sheeran opens the night.
Elton opens with The Bitch Is Back and moves through Bennie and the Jets, Levon and Tiny Dancer. The program gathers seventeen songs, without centering the performance on a single record. Among the musicians of the period are veterans Davey Johnstone and Nigel Olsson and bassist Matt Bissonette, who joined the band in 2012.
Circle of Life comes before Your Song at the close, bringing together two distant stages of his career. After Fayetteville, the June schedule moves on to European stages, including Switzerland, Austria and Ireland. The recording preserves this Arkansas stop as a one-off: a selection of hits inside a corporate celebration.
- Circle of Life and Your Song close the performance in the encore.
