“To see Pink in the 18-show Melbourne run that beats her own record at the arena.”
Context
In 2013, Melbourne stops being just another stop on Pink's route. The singer plays 18 shows at Rod Laver Arena, beats her own record from the Funhouse Tour and makes the city the setting of the official film. The Truth About Love, her sixth studio album, gives the journey its name.
On stage, Pink combines singing, choreography and aerial acrobatics in a production that also uses pyrotechnics. Raise Your Glass opens the run of songs; Try and Just Give Me a Reason represent the tour's album. Wicked Game and Time After Time make room for other songwriters, while a medley revisits three tracks from Can't Take Me Home.
The road goes on until January 2014, but Melbourne gets a life of its own on DVD and Blu-ray in November 2013. The release includes behind-the-scenes footage and rehearsals and becomes the best-selling music DVD of that year in Australia. The record-breaking run thus leaves a film that also keeps the work off stage.
- Wicked Game and Time After Time share space with a medley of three songs from her debut album.
