“To place a-ha's return at the German festivals, during the Minor Earth Major Sky cycle.”
Context
a-ha arrives at the Nürburgring in June 2001 during the tour tied to Minor Earth Major Sky. The album belongs to the trio's reunion phase, back in action after the break of the nineties. The Rock am Ring performance places this new cycle within one of the major German festivals.
Morten Harket, Pål Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen take the stage on June 2. The date is listed in the Minor Earth | Major Tour chronology and in that year's lineup. The TV recording documents this stop at the racetrack, in the period when the group balances new songs with the repertoire of its first phase.
The next day, the schedule moves on to Rock im Park, in Nuremberg. The closeness of the two shows places the concert in a weekend of German festivals, within the reunited band's European run. The Rock am Ring recording keeps this slice of 2001, before other legs and new albums in the decade.
