Context
Three years after appearing at Pinkpop in a pink wig, Tracy Bonham returns to Landgraaf on a hot Sunday afternoon. It is June 11, 2000. Down Here has just ended a four-year wait for her second album, and the stage welcomes an artist caught between the memory of Mother Mother and new material.
Bonham plays violin, picks up the guitar and reaches for the crowd beyond the microphone. She steps down to the platform in front of the stage and tries a few words in Dutch. Mother Mother and Behind Every Good Woman mark the meeting of the two phases. The musicians' wigs add humor, but the strength of the songs does not hold evenly.
At the end, the camera changes hands: Bonham films the crowd with a small camcorder. After this cycle, her relationship with Island ends in 2001, and her work with Blue Man Group takes on more room. The festival archive preserves this interval: the second record is already out, but the first hit still weighs.
- At the end, Bonham turns the camera on the crowd and makes her own record of the festival.
