“To see the band joined by SX-10 musicians on the night that produces Cypress Hill's first live album.”
Context
In August 2000, Cypress Hill reach the Fillmore with two fronts open. Skull & Bones had split rap and heavy guitars into separate discs. In San Francisco, that split gets backing musicians from SX-10, Sen Dog's project, alongside the core of B-Real, DJ Muggs and Eric Bobo.
The release opens with How I Could Just Kill a Man and moves through Insane in the Brain and I Ain't Goin' Out Like That. Can't Get the Best of Me brings the recent material to the center. Hits from the Bong goes back to Black Sunday before Riot Starter and the close with (Rock) Superstar.
The night takes two paths in the catalog. The album Live at the Fillmore arrives in December 2000, with seventeen tracks. Seven performances make the video collection Still Smokin', on DVD and VHS. The selection preserves the meeting between the 1990s repertoire and the expanded lineup that carries the move into rock.
