Context
Hampden Park joins the big-concert circuit with Rod Stewart in July 1999. The singer's bond with Scotland goes along with the stadium's musical debut. When We Were the New Boys, released in 1998, is the most recent album of that era.
The TV selection starts with Tonight I’m Yours and Baby Jane, passes through Stay With Me and reaches Sailing and Maggie May. Don Kirkpatrick and Paul Warren are on guitars, with Carmine Rojas on bass and David Palmer on drums.
The broadcast preserves only part of a longer show. The file ends during Twistin’ the Night Away. The date remains in Hampden's history as the stadium's first concert.
