Context
On June 19, 1977, CBS cameras arrive at the Omaha Civic Auditorium to film Elvis on tour. The project is a new television special, following the 1968 and Hawaii programs. The singer's failing health makes this exposure especially difficult.
On stage, Elvis wears the Mexican Sundial jumpsuit and moves through old hits, ballads and gospel. That's All Right and Little Sister share space with Fairytale and How Great Thou Art. James Burton, Jerry Scheff and Ronnie Tutt drive the band; the vocal groups and Joe Guercio's orchestra complete the ensemble.
Two days later, the crew films another performance in Rapid City. These shows feed Elvis in Concert, aired on October 3, after the singer's death. The special combines the two cities, without presenting Omaha in full. The recording preserves a night from the last tour, not the last concert.
