Context
In November 1977, the road for Even in the Quietest Moments... ends in London, at Queen Mary College. Supertramp arrives at the BBC taping with Give a Little Bit already a hit and a quintet that has been stable since 1973. Breakfast in America is still two years away.
Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies share vocals, piano and keyboards. John Helliwell adds saxophone and other winds; Dougie Thomson and Bob Siebenberg hold down bass and drums. The selection opens with Give a Little Bit, moves through Bloody Well Right and Dreamer and saves the close for Fool's Overture, from the album driving the tour.
The performance is part of Sight and Sound in Concert, with a TV broadcast recorded on November 19 of that year. The immediate destination is the BBC schedule, not a live album. Breakfast in America follows in 1979. Here, the recording preserves the classic lineup before that new commercial scale, with the 1977 album still at the center.
