Context
Sixteen days separate Arnhem from the farewell in London. On December 3, 2010, Simply Red take the GelreDome with the Farewell Tour, designed to close a 25-year cycle and make room for Mick Hucknall's solo career. The Dutch stop is part of that countdown.
Hucknall takes the vocals in front of a lineup that had settled in the previous years: Kenji Suzuki on guitar, Dave Clayton on keyboards and brothers Steve and Pete Lewinson on bass and drums. Ian Kirkham and Kevin Robinson complete the group. The night's set brings together Your Mirror, Stars and Holding Back the Years.
The farewell is completed at the O2 Arena on December 19, but it does not end the story for good: the group returns in 2015. Arnhem remains a stage close to that first full stop, not the closing concert. The recording preserves a stop on the tour in which the word goodbye still sets the calendar.
