Beija-Flor de Nilópolis

Beija-Flor de Nilópolis began as a carnival bloco in 1948, in Nilópolis, in the Baixada Fluminense, and became a samba school in 1954. It won its first title in the top division in 1976, with the theme “Sonhar com o Rei Dá Leão”, at the start of the phase associated with Joãosinho Trinta.

Since then, it has built a prominent history in Rio’s Carnival, with parades often tied to historical, cultural and social themes.
