Context
On December 5, 2010, Simply Red are two weeks away from ending their first run on stage. The stop at the Sportpaleis, in Antwerp, is part of a farewell announced as final. Mick Hucknall intends to pursue a solo career, and the tour turns the group's 25 years into closing material.
Your Mirror opens the night, followed by Thrill Me and Out on the Range. Hucknall sings in front of six musicians, with Ian Kirkham on saxophone and brothers Steve and Pete Lewinson on bass and drums. Night Nurse and It's Only Love set the band's own songs beside the recordings it has made part of its history.
Fairground closes the main set; Something Got Me Started and If You Don't Know Me by Now fill the encore. The farewell continues to London, where the December 19 concert goes live to movie theaters. The break lasts until 2015. Antwerp remains a stage of that goodbye, not its last word.
- Something Got Me Started and If You Don't Know Me by Now make up the encore.
