Context
On January 17, 2013, the Moody Theater hosts an audience that reaches beyond its walls. Keane arrives in Austin with the Strangeland tour and takes the second edition of Stageside Live, a series that streams performances online from the home of the Austin City Limits program.
Tom Chaplin takes the vocals, with Tim Rice-Oxley on keyboards, Jesse Quin on bass and Richard Hughes on drums. You Are Young opens a run of 21 songs. Strangeland shares the most room with Hopes and Fears: seven tracks from each record, among them Neon River, Everybody's Changing and Somewhere Only We Know.
Bedshaped closes the main set; Sea Fog opens the encore, followed by Sovereign Light Café and Crystal Ball. After the live stream, the performance becomes available on demand on the platforms of CBS and its partners. The recording preserves this meeting between the fourth album's run and the songs that carry the group's trajectory.
- Strangeland and Hopes and Fears share the center of the night, with seven songs from each record.
