Context
On June 14, 2013, Landgraaf hosts the first day of Pinkpop with The Killers closing the main stage. Battle Born, released the previous September, carries the trip. After the side projects that filled the band's hiatus, the quartet is back to sharing an extensive international schedule.
Brandon Flowers takes the vocals, Dave Keuning the guitar, Mark Stoermer the bass and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. the drums. The night cuts across the first four records: Mr. Brightside opens the performance, while Runaways and Miss Atomic Bomb represent the recent phase. Shadowplay and Forever Young add Joy Division and Alphaville to the mix.
The next day, the route moves on to the Isle of Wight; eight days after Pinkpop, it reaches Wembley, the band's biggest show to date. The Landgraaf recording remains a document of this path between festivals and stadium, with the original lineup still at the center of the trip.
