Context
One week after playing the same festival, Depeche Mode returns to Zilker Park on October 11, 2013. The second appearance at Austin City Limits closes the North American leg of the Delta Machine Tour. The new record gives the trip its name, but shares space with three decades of songs.
Dave Gahan leads the set, while Martin Gore takes the vocals on But Not Tonight and Shake the Disease, both acoustic. Between those pauses, A Pain That I'm Used To appears in the Jacques Lu Cont remix version. Behind the Wheel and World in My Eyes come before the first change of singer.
In November, the tour heads to Abu Dhabi and then returns to Europe. The Austin night survives in a live internet stream, fed by the video-screen images. The recording starts with Welcome to My World already underway, but follows the sequence through to Never Let Me Down Again, the closer.
- Martin Gore takes the vocals on the acoustic versions of But Not Tonight and Shake the Disease.
