Context
Three years after playing the main stage, Triggerfinger returns to Pinkpop with a higher profile. Their version of I Follow Rivers had reached number one in the Netherlands in 2012. On June 16, 2013, the trio closes the 3FM Stage, in Landgraaf.
Ruben Block handles vocals and guitar, Paul Van Bruystegem holds down the bass and Mario Goossens takes the drums. I'm Coming for You opens the run, which moves through Camaro and All This Dancin' Around. Goossens gets a solo of his own; further on, I Follow Rivers shares space with Soon, before the encore with Is It.
By Absence of the Sun already appears on stage, but the album of the same name only arrives in April 2014. The night is preserved in the festival's audiovisual footage, with cuts in this edit. Between the success of the Lykke Li cover and the next record, the performance documents a phase of growth for the Belgian trio.
- By Absence of the Sun previews the album that arrives the following year.
