Album featured at the showFour2012Truth and Day Four present the record that marks the band's return after its hiatus.“To see Kele and Russell scale the return of Four down to an acoustic duo session at KEXP.”
Context
In September 2012, Bloc Party arrive at the KEXP studio with a deliberate absence: half the band stays out. Four had come out just over a month earlier, ending the gap between records. In Seattle, Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack present that return on an acoustic scale.
Kele takes the vocals, and Russell carries all four songs on acoustic guitar. Truth opens the session; Day Four completes the first block devoted to the new album. A conversation with DJ El Toro separates that pair from Sunday and This Modern Love, which revisit the first two records without calling in the rhythm section.
The session circulates on video in 2013, while Four is still driving the band's phase. It doesn't become a DVD or a live album: it remains a radio recording with pictures. Its selection preserves a concrete contrast of that return, with the songs of a four-piece band delivered by just two.
- Truth and Day Four fill the first half; Sunday and This Modern Love close the session.
