Context
On March 3, 2016, the Trianon hosts a band split between renewal and memory. Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack arrive in Paris with Justin Harris and Louise Bartle, who joined the year before. Hymns had just come out, and the [PIAS] Nites series puts this lineup in front of the Parisian crowd.
Only He Can Heal Me opens the show, but the past soon gets its turn. Song for Clay flows into Banquet, and Kele sits at the piano for Two More Years, backed by the vocals of Harris and Bartle. On The Love Within, Lissack works his guitar effects; in the encore, Heroes comes before Helicopter.
After Ratchet, This Modern Love closes the performance. The Trianon stop is part of the Hymns tour and is streamed live by ARTE Concert. The recording preserves this meeting between the fifth record and the old songs: a recent lineup that has to carry, on stage, an established repertoire.
- Two More Years gets a piano version, with Kele backed by the vocals of Justin Harris and Louise Bartle.
