Context
In August 2016, Bloc Party arrive on Óbuda Island with half the lineup renewed. Justin Harris and Louise Bartle had made their stage debut with the band the year before. Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack remain up front, now promoting Hymns at the European summer festivals.
Only He Can Heal Me opens the show in Budapest. Virtue and The Love Within also represent the new record, while Banquet, Positive Tension and Helicopter keep Silent Alarm close. There is room for small detours: Björk appears in the intro to Song for Clay, and the Pixies come before Octopus.
The ending departs from the plan: This Modern Love comes in spontaneously after Ratchet. The performance is streamed live and remains a record of this lineup in its first year with a new album. Later in 2016, Stunt Queen extends the era, with Harris and Bartle also taking part in the songwriting.
- This Modern Love closes the performance without being in the planned set.
