Context
Fourteen years separate the release of Silent Alarm from this night at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. On November 17, 2019, Bloc Party arrive at Corona Capital with a plan that goes against the logic of a greatest-hits set: playing the first album in full. The festival celebrates its tenth edition, and the band returns to its starting point.
On the Corona stage, Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack share the work with Justin Harris on bass and Louise Bartle on drums. Compliments opens the reversed journey, which passes through This Modern Love and Blue Light before reaching Banquet and Helicopter. Little Thoughts comes in as an addition; Like Eating Glass, the record's original opener, closes the performance.
After the Mexican stop, the schedule moves on to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The revisit had already yielded a live album, recorded on the 2018 European leg, separate from this performance. Here, the recording preserves another stop on that reunion: a band with half its lineup renewed puts the first record at the center of the stage.
- Compliments opens and Like Eating Glass closes: the record runs back to front.
