“To see The Cranberries at the NPR office as Roses arrives, their first new album in ten years.”
Context
In 2012, The Cranberries' reunion already has new songs. The band had resumed activity in 2009, after the hiatus that began in 2003. Now, on the eve of Roses, it trades the scale of big stages for the NPR Music office in Washington for an acoustic performance.
Dolores O'Riordan leads five songs with Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler. Linger opens the meeting; Tomorrow puts the new material among the hits. Ode to My Family and Zombie bring back the No Need to Argue repertoire, before Raining in My Heart closes the session.
Published by NPR in February, the recording accompanies the arrival of Roses, the group's first studio album in ten years. The session remains a compact portrait of this comeback: two new songs share space with three old hits, without turning the return into mere retrospective.
