Context
Fourteen years separate Silent Alarm from the Hurricane stage on June 22, 2019. Bloc Party arrive in Scheeßel with a tour devoted to the first record, launched the year before. Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack keep the link with 2005; Justin Harris and Louise Bartle have completed the quartet since 2015.
The performance runs through the 13 tracks back to front. Compliments opens a path that passes through This Modern Love and Banquet before reaching Helicopter and Like Eating Glass. The reversal turns the album's original opener into the close of the main set. Then four songs widen the selection, from Two More Years to Ratchet.
The next day, the band moves on to Southside, keeping the tribute to the record on the road. The tour reaches the United States that same year. ARTE records and broadcasts the Hurricane appearance, preserving this complete reading of Silent Alarm: not a reunion of the original lineup, but the debut repertoire meeting a different rhythm section.
- Like Eating Glass closes the album block before a four-song encore.
