Context
In May 2012, Living Things has not yet reached stores. Linkin Park opens its European leg at Parque da Bela Vista, in Lisbon, with songs that preview the next album. The festival hosts the lineup with Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda at a moment when the old catalog starts sharing the stage with still-fresh material.
A Place for My Head starts the show, and Hybrid Theory keeps a strong presence with With You, Runaway and Points of Authority. Lies Greed Misery makes its live debut. Burn It Down also brings the crowd closer to the new work. A medley joins Leave Out All the Rest, Shadow of the Day and Iridescent without turning the three songs into separate performances.
Bleed It Out works in the Beastie Boys' Sabotage before the close with Papercut and One Step Closer. Living Things will be released in June, but two of its tracks already run through this night. Lisbon captures the moment when the band tests its next phase in front of a crowd that still answers to the first album.
