Context
In September 2017, Alter Bridge makes its first visit to Brazil. After Curitiba and São Paulo, the band reaches Rio de Janeiro's Parque Olímpico. The night of September 22 also hosts Tears for Fears and Bon Jovi, a pairing that puts the quartet in front of a different crowd.
Come to Life opens the ten songs of the performance. My Champion is the only song from The Last Hero, while Fortress supplies Addicted to Pain, Cry of Achilles and Waters Rising. The intro to Blackbird includes a passage of the Beatles song of the same name. Metalingus and Rise Today are saved for the final stretch.
Myles says an illness and the hurricane season in the United States nearly got in the way of the trip. The Brazilian run ends before the two orchestral nights at the Royal Albert Hall in October. In Rio, the recording keeps the four-piece lineup and a set packed into about an hour.
