Context
Less than a month remains in the Global Spirit Tour when Depeche Mode arrives in Sopron on June 26, 2018. At Lővér Kemping, the VOLT appearance is part of the European festival circuit that closes the Spirit campaign, begun the year before.
Dave Gahan shares the stage with Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher, backed by Christian Eigner and Peter Gordeno. Gore takes The Things You Said with the full band and returns to center stage for Somebody, in the encore. Between those moments, Cover Me places the recent record alongside Everything Counts, Stripped and Personal Jesus.
After Sopron, the tour continues through the festivals until it ends in Berlin in July. It is those last nights, not the Hungarian performance, that feed the film Spirits in the Forest. Here, the recording stays tied to the internet stream: a festival stop on the group's last tour with Andy Fletcher.
- Martin Gore sings The Things You Said with the full band and opens the encore with Somebody.
