Context
Rain cut Muse short on Lollapalooza's opening night. The following night, August 4, 2017, The Killers take Grant Park and find a way to respond: Starlight enters the show. Wonderful Wonderful has yet to arrive, but The Man is already making its way among the band's hits.
Brandon Flowers sings the new song backed by three backing vocalists. Later, he takes the bass on For Reasons Unknown. Dave Keuning stays on guitar, while Ronnie Vannucci Jr. holds down the drums. The versions of Shadowplay and Disarm broaden the set; Read My Mind and All These Things That I've Done lead the home stretch before the encore.
The night also marks a boundary: it is Keuning's last performance before the leave that began in 2017. Wonderful Wonderful arrives in September, and the road continues with Ted Sablay taking over lead guitar. The Red Bull TV broadcast preserves this meeting between a changing lineup and a record yet to come out.
- Starlight answers Muse's rain-shortened show the night before.
