Context
On June 4, 2017, Green Day closes Sunday at Pinkpop in Landgraaf. Revolution Radio, released the previous October, gives the tour its name. After Australia and New Zealand, the band opens its new European leg on the main stage at Megaland.
Billie Joe Armstrong leads a sequence that sets Bang Bang and Youngblood beside Longview and Basket Case. On Knowledge, he calls 11-year-old Juull up to play guitar. The boy also sings and gets the instrument as a gift. Shout, meanwhile, makes room for snippets of Monty Python, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles.
Two encores carry the night from American Idiot and Jesus of Suburbia to Ordinary World and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). The tour continues through Europe and the Americas until November. The audiovisual recording preserves this meeting of the recent album, the accumulated hits and a fan who crosses the distance between crowd and stage.
- An 11-year-old fan plays Knowledge and leaves the stage with a guitar as a gift.
