“To follow the passage from Frogstomp to Freak Show on a Melbourne stage in early 1997.”
Context
January 1997 finds Silverchair between two chapters. Frogstomp has already taken the trio outside Australia, while the Freak Show songs begin to take over the stage. At The Palace Complex, in Melbourne, the passage from one album to the other shows in the whole shape of the set.
Slave opens the set, followed by Leave Me Out and Tomorrow. The Door and Abuse Me link to the new material; Pure Massacre and Suicidal Dream revisit the debut. Later, Freak, No Association and Lie to Me focus the show on the second album again.
Israel’s Son closes the recording's eleven songs. The lineup stays the same: Daniel Johns on vocals and guitar, Chris Joannou on bass and Ben Gillies on drums. The recording documents the start of a year that would also take this phase of the band to the European festivals.
