“To see Silverchair present One Way Mule at Rock in Rio before it landed on Diorama.”
Context
The Cidade do Rock welcomes Silverchair on the last night of the 2001 festival. Neon Ballroom is still the most recent album, but the set already points to the next chapter. The show comes before Red Hot Chili Peppers and gathers the three eras the band had put on record.
Israel’s Son opens the way for Paint Pastel Princess, Slave and Pure Massacre. Emotion Sickness, Ana’s Song and Miss You Love make room for the third album. Hollywood and One Way Mule interrupt the retrospective with material still little known; the latter would find its place on Diorama the following year.
The Door and Faultline steer toward the end, before Anthem for the Year 2000 and Freak. The broadcast preserves thirteen songs and a band in transition. The show sits between the Neon Ballroom cycle and the studio work that would widen its language on Diorama.
