Context
On August 16, 1997, the Dead to the World Tour reaches the Butzweilerhof in Cologne, already on its last leg. Antichrist Superstar had put Marilyn Manson at the center of protests and fights over his shows. At the Bizarre Festival, the band shares the Saturday bill with acts such as Bush, Skunk Anansie and Faith No More.
Manson takes the vocals with Zim Zum on guitar, Twiggy Ramirez on bass, Madonna Wayne Gacy on keyboards and Ginger Fish on drums. Angel With the Scabbed Wings opens the songs. Lunchbox takes in the breakdown from Mister Superstar; The Beautiful People brings a passage of Antichrist Superstar and a clash with the drummer before it kicks in.
After Cologne, the tour continues across Europe and reaches South America and Mexico, where it ends in September. The run gets its own film, Dead to the World, released on VHS in February 1998. The German show remains as a Rockpalast television recording: nine songs define that festival stop.
- Lunchbox takes in Mister Superstar, and Irresponsible Hate Anthem closes the show.
