Context
On May 19, 1997, dEUS reaches Megaland after two major changes. Rudy Trouvé and Stef Kamil Carlens had already left; Craig Ward and Danny Mommens take their places. In Landgraaf, Tom Barman leads a lineup that brings the newly released In a Bar, Under the Sea to Pinkpop.
Theme From Turnpike opens the show, and Via makes the link to Worst Case Scenario. The five-piece works through eight songs from the second record without dropping Suds & Soda and Hotellounge. In the middle, it fits in You Will Miss Me When I Burn, by Palace, and a brief Memory of a Festival before Sam Peckinpah's Daughter.
Roses closes the set, two years before The Ideal Crash takes the band's writing in another direction. The recording remains in the Dutch audiovisual archive as part of the Pinkpop recordings. More than a festival stop, it captures the meeting between the early records' material and the reorganized lineup.
- A brief Memory of a Festival precedes the early version of Sam Peckinpah's Daughter.
