Context
On June 1, 1998, Spiritualized takes the 3FM Tent at Pinkpop, in Landgraaf. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space had ended the previous year as NME's album of the year. The band arrives at the festival with that recognition, but keeps the earlier albums in the set.
Cop Shoot Cop... opens the footage, reversing the position it holds on the third record. Shine a Light comes next and runs for more than twelve minutes before Electricity. Jason Pierce leads a run that passes through Home of the Brave, joins Sway to Take Good Care of It and reaches 200 Bars.
This lineup still includes Sean Cook, Mike Mooney and Damon Reece, dismissed by Pierce the following year. The period also gets a document on record with Royal Albert Hall October 10 1997, released in 1998. The Pinkpop recording preserves another slice of this phase, now in the concentrated space of a festival.
- Shine a Light runs more than twelve minutes between Cop Shoot Cop... and Electricity.
