Why watch

“To see Tori Amos's only Pinkpop appearance, on her first solo tour with a full band.”

Context

On June 1, 1998, Tori Amos's piano no longer holds the center of the conversation alone. The European leg of Plugged '98 reaches Pinkpop a few weeks after From the Choirgirl Hotel. It is her first solo tour with a full band and her only appearance at the festival.

In the Roskilde tent, in Landgraaf, Tori sings and plays with Steve Caton on guitar, Jon Evans on bass and Matt Chamberlain on drums. Spark, Cruel and Raspberry Swirl put the new record in the foreground. Tear in Your Hand, Horses and The Waitress bring other phases into this meeting of four musicians.

After Landgraaf, the tour moves on to the Royal Albert Hall, in London. The Pinkpop night circulates on radio, as a RealVideo webcast and in television excerpts cut with interviews. In 1999, other shows from the same tour feed the live disc of To Venus and Back, extending this collective experience.
