Why watch

“For a sense of Roberto Carlos during his 2017 stop in Santos, the year of the EP featuring Sereia and Chegaste.”

Context

Just ahead of Brazil's Dia dos Namorados in 2017, Santos hosts two performances by Roberto Carlos at the Mendes Convention Center. June 9 and 10 are reserved for the singer. It is a stop on the São Paulo coast in a year that also brings new studio material.

Roberto stands at the center of a musical setup that, at that year's shows, brings together a band, horns, and backing vocals under the direction of Eduardo Lages. Piano, keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, and percussion underpin this format. The scale is that of a popular music orchestra, with roles arranged around the voice.

The EP Roberto Carlos had arrived in April, bringing together Sereia, Chegaste, Vou Chegar Mais Cedo em Casa, and Sua Estupidez. In 2018, the singer releases Amor sin Límite and returns to Spanish-language repertoire. Santos remains a snapshot of the Brazilian season before that new chapter.
