“To see Igor Eça bring his father's musical partners together at Theatro Net Rio for a collective tribute.”
Context
Luiz Eça's living room in Leblon provides the idea: bringing friends together around music, without separating time together from the creative process. On April 25, 2017, Igor Eça brings this gathering to Theatro Net Rio. The pianist's son takes up the bass and shares musical direction with Itamar Assiere.
Consolação and Batida Diferente open the instrumental path. Toninho Horta sings Beijo Partido; Dori Caymmi presents Velho Pescador; Edu Lobo joins in on Imagem and sings Pra Dizer Adeus. Zé Renato appears at different points throughout the program. Among these voices, Luiz Eça's compositions remain at the center of the tribute, from Dolphin to Tamba.
The project also takes shape as a studio album in 2017. The theater recording is released in 2020 on DVD and as a digital album, preserving all eighteen songs from the performance. At the close, Fred Eça adds his voice to those of the guests and his brother: the family gathering finds its place within the tribute.
- Tamba closes the gathering with all four guests and a vocal appearance by Fred Eça.
