Context
Four years after his first appearance at the festival, Elton John returns to the Palco Mundo on September 20, 2015. His shiny blue jacket carries Captain Fantastic on the back. The All the Hits Tour reaches Rio with longtime partners, among them Davey Johnstone and Nigel Olsson.
The Bitch Is Back paves the way for Bennie and the Jets. At the piano, Elton stretches Levon and Rocket Man with solos and improvisations, without abandoning the structure of a hits show. The crowd sings along, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road gets an instrumental passage before the journey of Rocket Man.
At the end, Your Song fills the encore and makes up for an absence from the 2011 performance. Elton says goodbye with a thank-you in Portuguese. Gshow's live stream carries the night beyond the Cidade do Rock and preserves this reunion: seventeen songs, a road-tested band and the piano at the center.
- Levon and Rocket Man get piano solos and improvisations.
