Context
Rain turns Worthy Farm into mud, but Saturday, June 23, 2007 ends with a golden shine on the Pyramid Stage. Three years after their slot on the New Bands Stage, The Killers take the headline spot. Sam's Town, the second album, gives the change its scale.
Flowers appears in a gold suit, behind a keyboard covered in antlers. Sam's Town and Enterlude clear the way for When You Were Young. The set alternates between the first two records, while fireworks heighten the staging. In the encore, his lone voice on Can't Take My Eyes Off You leads into the Joy Division tribute, Shadowplay.
All These Things That I've Done closes the performance, but the night also leaves a debate about how loud the sound reaches the field. The BBC broadcast preserves this meeting of arena ambition and festival stage. The tour runs until November, and Shadowplay finds a place on Sawdust, extending the link to Control.
- Can't Take My Eyes Off You comes a cappella before the Shadowplay cover.
