Context
In September 1998, Simply Red take the Lyceum Theatre, in London, with a renewed lineup. Blue had reached stores in May, after starting out as a covers project. The theater shows set that material beside a catalog that already spans more than a decade of soul and pop.
Mick Hucknall sings in front of twelve musicians. Ian Kirkham is part of the horn section, while Dee Johnson and Sarah Brown carry the backing vocals. Mellow My Mind and Ghetto Girl share space with Sad Old Red and Stars. Come to My Aid flows into Infidelity, linking two pieces of the earlier repertoire.
The sequence reaches Holding Back the Years, Something Got Me Started and Fairground before closing. The September performances give rise to Live in London, released on video and available on DVD. The recording captures this passage: newly arrived musicians share the stage with longtime collaborators, and Blue finds its place among the hits.
- Come to My Aid and Infidelity appear as a medley.
