Context
On the last night of 1998, the Backstreet Boys return to Orlando, where it all began. The Orlando Arena hosts the close of the Backstreet's Back Tour, after a run that started the year before. Nick, Brian, Kevin, AJ and Howie turn the homecoming into a New Year's Eve special broadcast on pay-per-view.
The stage alternates between the group and each of its five voices. Just to Be Close to You goes without accompaniment; then a sequence of solos hands center stage to each member. Quit Playing Games, All I Have to Give and As Long As You Love Me bring the group back together before the close with Everybody.
The performance gets a VHS and DVD release in April 1999, preserving this crossing point between two eras. Millennium arrives the following month, but Orlando still gathers the hits that drove the quintet's international expansion. The film fixes the homecoming at the boundary between the end of the tour and the next album.
- All five members get individual space in a sequence of solos.
