Context
In December 1997, Phil Collins arrives at Bercy with his first solo tour after leaving Genesis. Dance into the Light had traded the solitary construction of Both Sides for band work. In Paris, this change gets a round stage, surrounded by the audience and dressed up as a ship.
Collins shares the space with Ricky Lawson on drums, Luis Conte on percussion and the four musicians of the Vine Street Horns. Hand In Hand opens the route; Lorenzo brings the recent album close to the earlier hits. Timbantiocha puts the focus on the drum and percussion trio, before the run that leads into Sussudio.
After Paris, only Dortmund and four London shows remain to close the tour. David Mallet directs the film, released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1998 and later on DVD. The edit keeps fifteen numbers but leaves other songs out: it is a slice of the night, not a complete reproduction of the concert.
- Timbantiocha brings Collins, Ricky Lawson and Luis Conte together in a drum and percussion trio.
