Context
On August 2, 2023, Warsaw hosts the first of the two Polish shows on that leg of the Memento Mori World Tour. Dave Gahan and Martin Gore carry on without Andrew Fletcher, who died the year before. At PGE Narodowy, the new work meets a repertoire marked by their companion's absence.
My Cosmos Is Mine and Wagging Tongue open the show before Walking in My Shoes. Peter Gordeno and Christian Eigner complete the onstage quartet. Gore takes Strangelove in an acoustic version, while World in My Eyes is dedicated to Fletcher. In the encore, Eigner moves to keyboards for Waiting for the Night.
Two days later, the route moves on to Kraków; the tour continues until April 2024. The Warsaw night survives here in audience footage, without the finish of an official release. Between four tracks from Memento Mori and the closing Personal Jesus, the recording preserves a lineup learning to carry on.
- World in My Eyes honors Fletcher; Waiting for the Night brings Gordeno and Eigner together on keyboards.
