Tour albumDrones2015 · Drones Festivals TourNewly released, Drones drives the festival season and supplies Psycho, Dead Inside, Mercy and Reapers to the show.“To see Muse close the first night of Pinkpop in the week Drones was released.”
Context
On June 12, 2015, Drones has just reached stores and Muse takes Pinkpop's main stage, in Landgraaf. The band closes the festival's first night with four songs from the new record, still in the early days of its open-air season.
Psycho opens the show, but Absolution takes up an important part of the night: Hysteria, Apocalypse Please and Stockholm Syndrome run through the set. The endings fold in riffs by AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine and Led Zeppelin. On Madness, Chris Wolstenholme's out-of-tune bass derails the start; the band stops and begins again.
The next day, the route leads to Download, in England. The Drones campaign continues through the festivals and then the arenas, but this night stays tied to the moment of the album's arrival. The professional footage preserves this meeting between newly released material and songs that already carry the big stages.
- Madness stops and starts again because of Chris Wolstenholme's out-of-tune bass.
