Context
Six years after its previous visit, Placebo returns to Landgraaf for its fifth Pinkpop appearance. On June 14, 2015, the band closes the 3FM stage with a recent change: Steve Forrest had left in February, and Matt Lunn takes over on drums for that year's dates.
B3 opens the way for a set that brings Loud Like Love close to the earlier records. Fiona Brice moves between violin, keyboards and vocals, taking Alison Mosshart's part on Meds. On Special K, Molko asks for more from the crowd; The Bitter End keeps up the pressure before the encore with Kate Bush and Infra-red.
The performance belongs to the final stretch of the Loud Like Love tour, before another change of scenery. In August, the band records MTV Unplugged in London, released in November on audio and video. The Pinkpop footage preserves the contrast: here, the ending still runs through Molko's guitar and a tail of noise.
- Fiona Brice takes the second vocal on Meds, and Running Up That Hill opens the encore.
