Context
Ten years separate this night from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' previous stop at Pinkpop. On June 10, 2016, the quartet returns to Landgraaf with Josh Klinghoffer on guitar and a record on the way. The Getaway is a week out, but three songs already find room on the main stage.
Can't Stop clears the way for Dani California and Scar Tissue. We Turn Red gets its live debut, while Dark Necessities shows another side of the work with Danger Mouse. Among the hits, Nobody Weird Like Me brings back the friction of the early records. In the encore, Anthony takes the bass, Flea moves to keyboards and Josh alternates between piano and guitar.
Soul to Squeeze takes a place in the encore without Under the Bridge, before the close with Give It Away. The tour continues through the festivals and then the arenas, running through 2017. The professional footage gets a full release from the festival archive in December 2025 and preserves the meeting between established songs and an album yet to come out.
- We Turn Red gets its live debut; the encore swaps instruments and takes in snippets of the Beatles.
