“To see Pinkpop 2015 with Josh Homme on drums, a rare presence on the band's tours.”
Context
On June 13, 2015, the Brand Bier Stage tent gets a rare presence: Josh Homme takes over the drums for Eagles of Death Metal. Alongside Jesse Hughes, the co-founder joins this European run while the band prepares the follow-up to Heart On, released seven years earlier.
Bad Dream Mama opens proceedings, and Cherry Cola carries the start. The set loses momentum in the middle but finds a response near the end. Hughes defies the curfew, I Want You So Hard gets the tent moving and Speaking in Tongues stretches out the farewell with a guitar duel.
The next step is Zipper Down, which arrives in October and includes Complexity, previously recorded by Hughes as Boots Electric. The Landgraaf night remains as a festival recording, televised as part of Pinkpop's programming. Between the accumulated catalog and the upcoming record, Homme's drumming marks this stop.
- Speaking in Tongues stretches out the ending with a guitar duel, while Robbie Williams is already starting on the main stage.
