Context
On October 23, 2001, Incubus arrives at Sony Studios in New York with Morning View in stores that very day. The album was born months earlier in a house in Malibu, where the members lived and worked together. The performance carries part of that shared life into a television setting.
The five musicians stand in a circle, facing one another, in an arrangement designed to recapture the experience of recording the album. Brandon Boyd sings with Mike Einziger, Dirk Lance, José Pasillas and Chris Kilmore around him. Circles and Warning share space with Pardon Me, Stellar and Drive; Wish You Were Here closes the sequence.
The performance is part of a project that also follows the making of the album and its first music video. In May 2002, the recording is released on DVD, with additional material produced during the stay in Malibu. The house and the New York studio are linked by the same gesture: putting the band face to face.
- Mexico and Just a Phase mark their first known live performances according to setlist.fm records.
