Context
On June 12, 2000, Muse takes one of Pinkpop's secondary stages for the first time. Showbiz, released the year before, still defines the tour. But the trio arrives in Landgraaf with material that points ahead: New Born opens the performance, and Plug In Baby also gets a spot.
Matt Bellamy shares the stage with Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard. Uno, Sunburn and Muscle Museum keep the first record at the center of the run, while Feeling Good comes in as a cover. On Fillip, Bellamy knocks over the mic stands; two techs try to set them back up, and part of the final chorus goes without his voice.
The next step leads to Origin of Symmetry, which arrives in 2001 with New Born and Plug In Baby. Part of the Pinkpop set airs on Dutch television, and the audio also circulates on radio. The archive preserves this festival debut, but does not offer an intact ending: Showbiz cuts off before the song is over.
- New Born and Plug In Baby preview the album Origin of Symmetry, released the following year.
- Fillip includes the mic stands toppling and the techs stepping in during the final chorus.
