Context
On June 4, 2001, The Offspring set foot on Pinkpop for the first time. The band arrives in Landgraaf after Americana and with Conspiracy of One still recent, released the previous November. The date falls during the sixth album's tour, before any change to the core of Dexter Holland, Noodles, Greg K. and Ron Welty.
Bad Habit opens the performance, followed by All I Want and Come Out and Play. The new songs come in early: Special Delivery and Million Miles Away appear before Gone Away. Further on, Want You Bad and Original Prankster complete the Conspiracy of One material. Near the end, Water Jam turns a hose on the crowd before Self Esteem.
The debut does not start a regular presence: the return to the festival only comes in 2018, seventeen years later. Between those two visits, the lineup changes, and Welty leaves the band in 2003. Preserved in Pinkpop's audiovisual archive, the footage keeps together the musicians who recorded Smash, Americana and Conspiracy of One.
