Context
On August 19, 2023, Marina Park hosts a festival that has just added a second day to its program. Gilberto Gil takes the Palco Sol on Saturday, among artists from different generations. The tribute to Brazilian music, which began with Alceu Valença at the first edition, finds its center in him that night.
Gil opens with Tempo Rei and moves on through A Novidade and Vamos Fugir. Esperando na Janela and Eu Só Quero um Xodó bring the set closer to forró, while Estrela and Esotérico fill the middle of the performance. In the final stretch, Palco, Aquele Abraço and Andar com Fé come before Maracatu Atômico, Nos Barracos da Cidade and Toda Menina Baiana.
The Fortaleza stop is part of the Aquele Abraço era, a tour that celebrates six decades of career and moves on to European halls later that year. The Zepelim recording is released in full in December 2023. It remains a portrait of Gil at a young festival, surrounded by a lineup that puts his work in contact with other generations.
