Gilberto Gil is both an inventor and an ambassador of Brazilian music. A co-founder of Tropicália with Caetano Veloso, he mixed baião, rock, samba and electricity in “Domingo no Parque” and “Aquele Abraço”, was jailed and exiled by the dictatorship and came back with the trilogy Refazenda, Refavela and Realce.
Reggae, afoxé and African music all passed through his unmistakable acoustic guitar. Brazil's Minister of Culture from 2003 to 2008, he keeps the curiosity of someone still discovering the world.
